We are delighted to welcome five new faculty members to the Department of Life Sciences. They are Salman Khan Promon, Nazratun Nayeem Choudhury, Saadia Shareen, Rezwanul Kabir and Aftab Uz Zaman Noor. They will begin to take both theory and Laboratory classes in the upcoming Spring-2021 semester, and will participate in research and co-curricular activities. Students of DLS are expected to benefit from their expertise, and their enthusiastic willingness to participate in the team and take the Department forward. The department of life sciences (DLS) organized an online event on July 17, 2020 to welcome the new students who joined the Biochemistry or Microbiology program for the first time in the Summer-2020 semester. All faculty members of the department and most of the new students participated in this event. The Dean of SELS and Head of the department, as well as other faculty members spoke on the occasion to welcome the new students. The event was conducted by Dr. Ashrafus Safa. One of the objectives of this event was to introduce the new students to the faculty members and to their classmates. Here is an introduction to a section of new students who joined the event.

The School of Environment and Life Sciences (SELS) will soon launch the Master’s Program in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, under the Department of Life Sciences. Students graduating in Microbiology, Biochemistry/Biotechnology, Pharmacy, and other related fields will be able to do their MSc in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics in IUB. This program is expected to enhance research activities and will allow graduating students from IUB to continue their studies in IUB for their MSc degree. There will be a substantial discounts on tuition fees for the first few semesters in addition to the usual merit scholarships.
